Cookie Policy

Short version: This website does not use cookies. No consent banner is required because there is nothing to consent to.

1. No cookies are used on this site

MyDataTools.ca does not set, read, or use cookies of any kind. This includes:

  • Session cookies — we do not track login sessions (there are no accounts)
  • Analytics cookies — we do not use Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, or any other analytics platform
  • Advertising cookies — we do not run advertising campaigns and have no ad infrastructure
  • Functional cookies — we do not store user preferences in cookies (preferences that need to persist between visits, if any, would use localStorage)
  • Third-party cookies — we do not embed any third-party content (videos, social widgets, chat tools) that would set cookies

2. No tracking or analytics of any kind

In addition to not using cookies, this site does not use:

  • Analytics scripts or pixel tracking
  • Browser fingerprinting
  • Session replay tools
  • Heat map or scroll tracking
  • Social media tracking pixels
  • Remarketing or retargeting pixels
  • Any form of cross-site tracking

The only JavaScript loaded on this site is first-party code written and hosted by MyDataTools. You can verify this by inspecting the network requests in your browser's developer tools.

3. The Address Geocoder tool

The Address Geocoder tool sends your address query directly from your browser to nominatim.openstreetmap.org. This is a network request you initiate, not a tracking mechanism. It is disclosed on that tool's page. MyDataTools does not intercept, log, or see this request. OpenStreetMap's own cookie and privacy policies govern any interactions with their service.

4. localStorage

This site does not intentionally write to localStorage. Tool results are rendered into the DOM and are cleared when you navigate away or reload the page. No data persists between sessions.

5. Why we don't need a consent banner

Cookie consent banners exist because websites collect data that requires user consent. Because we collect no such data, no banner is needed. Visitors can use this site with full confidence that their browsing behaviour is not being recorded, analysed, or sold.
